I love matching minis. Check out these K-beauty duos – matching toner & lotion.

One of these brands is a premium line. One is upper midrange. One is lower midrange. And one is budget. Can you guess who’s who? Nor can I! 🙂

K-beauty packaging is pretty simple. A major difference from Western brands. If we’re paying a premium here, it shows in the packaging. Not so with Korean brands.

Sulwhasoo is the most expensive one here (a brand you can find in Bergdorfs). But it’s in a simple plastic bottle just like the other brands. (Full size too.) Interesting, eh?

Simple packaging keeps costs down, which gets passed down to the consumer. This is another reason why Korean skincare is more budget-friendly than its Western counterparts.

The toners are called by other names, like “Skin” or “Balancing Water.” The first time I saw “Skin” on a label, I thought it was a translation error or typo 🙂 Now I know it means toner.

The “lotion” or “emulsion” is a light moisturizer that goes on after the toner or serum. There is typically another moisturizer somewhere down the line. Korean skincare routines are composed of many steps (10-20, up to you how much you want to layer).

PS – I love the Sulwhasoo ginseng toner shown here – it smells nice if you like ginseng and is hydrating without feeling sticky or heavy.
