The odds that you will get SKIN CANCER. 1 in 5 of you will get skin cancer in your lifetime. Those are extremely high odds.

[NOTE: This statistic is for the U.S.]

It’s Skin Cancer Awareness‬ Month, and now that summer is here, we need to be extra careful about our sun exposure.

**WEAR THE SUNSCREEN**

UV rays are so powerful, they can do this to you:

1. Mutate DNA, which can lead to cancer –> It’s very easy for the sun‬ to mutate your DNA‬ if your skin is not protected. MELANOMA‬ (the worst kind) can kill you.

2. Kill your cells –> Cells that are damaged so badly (beyond repair) will simply “commit suicide”

3. Damage Collagen, Elastin, and other components of skin –> If they’re damaged, you will see it! WRINKLES‬, SAGGING‬, ROUGH SKIN, DISCOLORATIONS

Please don’t use tanning beds either. They’re even more destructive than lying out in the sun.

The Skin Cancer Foundation has helpful info, including how to recognize different types of moles and cancerous lesions on your skin.
