A simple AM skincare routine for repairing skin.

Sometimes, you just need a little bit of oil to recharge your skin.

Today is one of those days for me. My skin is not particularly dry, but I can tell my barrier is under-nourished. It’s a bit tight everywhere, and it just doesn’t feel in top shape. My regular moisturizers aren’t doing enough.

This is when I turn to an oil. Luckily, it’s not that humid, so an oil won’t feel heavy.

Oils are rich in fatty acids. So if your skin is damaged – for example, from a sunburn, being over-processed, over-exfoliated, over-cleansed, irritated – then applying an oil is good way to repair it quickly. Because if your skin is damaged, chances are your skin is lacking in lipids.

Oils are ok for oily skin or even humid weather. Just apply with a light touch. Rub 1-2 drops between 2 fingers and *press* lightly into skin where your skin feels tight or damaged.

Products Shown:

1. Meg21‬ Moisturizing Toner (in purple spray bottle) – has the great anti-glycation ingredient Supplamine (see older post) plus antioxidants

2. Wonderland Organics‬ Sublime Serum – a high quality, organic, light oil blend (jojoba, sunflower, apricot kernel, pomegranate, argan) made with great attention and dedication. Love that this comes in a pump (I find it much easier to use than a dropper).

3. Odacite‬ Baobab Sarsaparilla Eye Contour Serum – an organic oil for the eye area with a rich, exotic blend of botanical extracts

4. Suvana Beauty‬ Paw Paw Acai Balm SPF 20 – the balm that I love (see older post) but with Acai Acai and SPF protection. For my lips.

5. Dermalogica‬ Skin Perfect Primer SPF 30 (14% ZO, 4% TD) – called a primer but it’s really a lightly tinted sunscreen in a silicone base. The tint is barely there – the color is meant to even out the skin tone, not impart color. Similar to ‪#‎MDSolarSciences‬ sunscreens. Highly protective, super easy to spread, comfortable. A good choice when your skin is sensitized.
