Re-stocking my Omega 3‬ fish oil stash.

I take omega 3 supplements‬ to improve my overall health and skin. It’s hard to get enough omega 3 fatty acids from diet alone. This is why I supplement.

Omega 3 fatty acids‬ are crucial for skin. They feed the lipids‬ in your skin. And lipids are required for a strong skin barrier.

When you have a strong barrier, your skin is LESS DRY and you’re less likely to get irritated by the environment or skincare products. When your skin has been damaged, those lipids are damaged or depleted too.

So feeding your skin more lipids helps. You can do that through supplements, food, or oil-rich products, such as a face oil or emollient moisturizer.

When I take fish oil‬, my skin is noticeably more MOIST and PLUMP looking. It glows more too. This is because my skin is better able to hold onto water. Less water escapes from my skin when it has been strengthened with omega 3s.

If you are doing everything right in your skincare routine, and you’re eating healthy, yet you find that your skin is STILL DRY, consider supplementing with omega 3. Fish oil is a great source, but if you are vegan or vegetarian, you can take flax or chia seeds.

Be sure to consult first with your physician before you take supplements – to make sure there are no conflicts with any medications you are taking or underlying conditions you have.

In case you don’t know, Life Extension is a brand that produces top quality supplements. I only buy my fish oil from them, and have been doing so for years. With fish oil, it’s important to buy premium quality (sourced from wild caught fish, which have much more omega 3s than farm raised fish). Life Extension also has a strong focus on science and is at the forefront of research in nutrition and longevity.
